Education: College/CEGEP. Work site environment: Beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots. Hay farming. Grain, oil and forage crop. Tasks: Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens and other work areas. Diagnose livestock health issues. Handling animals. Marking livestock as proof of ownership. Monitor the calving process. Monitoring animal health. Organize tasks to accomplish the work. Perform livestock feeding. Treat livestock health issues. Weaning. Fertilize and spray crops. Harvest crops. Feed and tend animals. Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures. Maintain financial and production records. Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment. Provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying or harvesting. Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs. Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Maintain livestock performance records. Maintain quality control and production records. Select livestock for sale. Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs. Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations. Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens. Maintain work records and logs. Perform general farm duties. Supervision: 1 to 2 people.
