*Are YOU our ideal JCC Water Polo Coach?*
The Water Polo Coach is responsible for developing athletes, fostering a positive team environment, and delivering high-quality coaching experiences for participants of varying skill levels. This role focuses on athlete development, game strategy, team leadership, and promoting sportsmanship while ensuring a safe and engaging aquatic environment. The Water Polo Coach works closely with athletes, families, officials, and staff to support the growth and success of the JCC Water Polo Program.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*Coaching and Athlete Development*
* Design and implement effective water polo training programs. * Teach and develop fundamental and advanced water polo skills, including swimming, passing, shooting, defense, and game strategy. * Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback. * Develop individual and team performance goals. * Promote physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
*Team Management*
* Organize and supervise practices, games, tournaments, and team events. * Develop game plans and make strategic decisions during competitions. * Manage team rosters, player attendance, and athlete progression. * Coordinate travel and logistics for competitions when required.
*Safety and Risk Management*
* Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices and competitions. * Enforce pool safety rules and emergency procedures. * Monitor athletes for signs of injury or illness and respond appropriately. * Maintain all required aquatic certifications and safety standards. * Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, officials, and administrators. * Maintain accurate attendance records and athlete progress documentation. * Assist with program promotion, recruitment, and participant retention efforts. * Attend coaching meetings, professional development opportunities, and organizational events.
*Program Development*
* Support the growth and development of the JCC Water Polo Program. * Assist in recruiting new athletes and retaining existing participants. * Contribute to equipment management and facility scheduling needs. * Stay current on coaching techniques, rules, and best practices in water polo.
*What do you bring?*
* Experience coaching or playing competitive water polo. * Strong knowledge of water polo rules, techniques, and strategies. * Coach Level 1 Certification. * Current CPR, First Aid, and National Lifeguard certifications (or ability to obtain). * Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. * Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required. * Passion for athlete development and creating a positive team culture.
