Assistant Project EngineerJob order - J0626-1021 - Regular Full-TimeCategoryEngineeringCity Port Moody, British Columbia, CanadaSalary Range:$97,797.00 - $111,133.00/YearClosing Date:July 19, 2026Job DescriptionThe City of Port Moody has a new opportunity available for a regular, full-time Assistant Project Engineer to join our Engineering team.The Assistant Project Engineer, as a Professional Engineer or experienced EIT pursuing their P.Eng. designation is part of the Project Delivery Division within the City of Port Moody?s Engineering Department and carries out varied general or routine engineering tasks including but not limited to engineering administration, project management, contract administration, field investigations, CAD design, hydraulic modelling, and engineering and technical calculations. This role performs engineering and project management duties related to design and construction of transportation, water distribution, wastewater collection and urban drainage infrastructure systems. This role will include active participation in the delivery of the City?s annual capital works program, reviewing designs to ensure design objectives are met and operations issues are addressed.Responsibiliities: Provide technical expertise, recommendations, and engineering guidance to the City?s engineering capital works projects and programs Involved in the design and construction of municipal works projects in coordination with the relevant codes, design standards, guidelines and requirements Administer and review designs, technical reports, drawings, specifications and other documentation prepared by engineering consultants May provide oversight including verifying and approving calculations, selections, drawings and/or other documentation, as required, prepared by design team and/or City staff May undertake minor design works for routine replacements such as utility connections Performs hydraulic model checks and capacity analysis on the City?s water, sewer and drainage models for various capital and development works to ensure alignment with relevant codes, standards and guidelines Identifies non-standard conditions and makes recommendations for remediation. Consults senior staff on moderately complex or highly unusual matters Under the general guidance of the Manager of Project Delivery Services and direction of the Senior Project Engineer, implement design and construction projects (usually under $200K) under the City?s Capital Program Initiate the project, preparing the scoping charter, obtain authorization from project sponsor and/or General Manager, coordinate and direct project activities Deliver the project to achieve schedule, budget, and quality objectives Coordinate work across internal functional business units, external agencies and contractors and consultants Ensure project design is in compliance with plans and specifications and projects fully use City policies, procedures, and standards Ensure inquiries from the public and external parties are addressed in a timely manner Provide required oversight during construction to monitor progress and resolve issues or anticipated issues that may arise including field reviews and relent reporting in compliance with City design standards and requirements Maintain all project documentation and reports, accurate project records, and accurat project financials, including budgeting, costing, and forecasting Be responsible for the execution of agreements, service contracts, construction contracts and scope changes that comply with City policy Review change orders to ensure alignment with project objectives; review and approve invoices for assigned projects/make recommendation for approval Prepare or assist in preparing reports to Executive Leadership and/or Council as required Provide accurate and complete project turnover documentation at project completion including record drawings, GIS information, operations manuals, etc. Maintain confidentiality as directed by Managem
