The shared approach of Fundamental Theology in Vienna is to relate theology to contemporary societal challenges as well as to other academic disciplines, thereby contributing to the resolution of current socio-political issues. To this end, the Fundamental Theology department is actively involved in the multidisciplinary research center Religion and Transformation (RaT).</p> <p> </p> <p>Particular focus is given to the question of God in the context of secular modernity, as well as questions of theology and philosophy of history, and aesthetics. As a university assistant (predoctoral), you will join the research team of the Department of Fundamental Theology and the research center Religion and Transformation (RaT).</p> <h3><strong>What is particularly important to us: </strong></h3> <p>An international outlook, an interdisciplinary approach, and strong connections with other Departments, particularly the Institute of German Studies and/or Philosophy and the research center RaT; an interest in the Department’s research priorities, and a profound understanding of Catholic systematic theology and philosophy, the Bible and its reception, as well as aesthetics and literature.</p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"></H2> </div><div><h2><strong>Your future tasks:</strong></h2> <p>You will actively participate in teaching, research, and administration, which means:</p> <ul> <li>You will independently teach courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement.</li> <li>Supervising students and assisting with the supervision of academic qualification theses.</li> <li>You will contribute to the research at the Department of Fundamental Theology. Participating in research projects and in applications for third-party funding, contributing to publications and scholarly articles, and giving presentations will be a central part of your responsibilities.</li> <li>We expect you to complete your dissertation agreement within 12–18 months.</li> <li>You are working on your dissertation and its completion.</li> <li>The dissertation project should contribute to the Department’s key themes in the areas of the question of God, the theology of history, and aesthetics.</li> <li>You will perform administrative duties in research and teaching.</li> <li>Collaboration with the research centre Religion and Transformation.</li> <li>Participation in the organization of conferences, meetings, and symposia.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"></H2> </div><div><h2><strong>This is part of your personality:</strong></h2> <ul> <li>Master’s degree or diploma in theology or philosophy with a thematic focus on the philosophy of religion or the aesthetics of religion (the degree must be obtained by the start of employment)</li> <li>Teaching skills/experience in e-learning</li> <li>Comprehensive computer skills, particularly MS Office</li> <li>Required are a profound knowledge of Catholic systematic theology and philosophy, the Bible and its reception, as well as aesthetics and literature</li> <li>Teaching experience, familiarity with university procedures and structures, and basic experience in academic work are an advantage</li> <li>Excellent written and spoken German and English</li> <li>You are a team player with strong social and communication skills and have a strong interest in both societal and church processes</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"></H2> </div><div><h2><strong>What we offer:</strong></h2> <p><strong>Duration of contract: </strong>The employment duration is 4 years.
