The Opportunity – Funding Strategy Manager This role plays a critical part in shaping and evolving Medibank’s healthcare funding strategy to support affordability, sustainability and improved value across the health system. Reporting to the Squad Lead, Provider Strategy, you will act as a subject matter expert across healthcare funding, providing strategic leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of hospital and broader provider funding models. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will translate strategy into practical outcomes that support Medibank’s customers and broader organisational objectives. How you will create value In this broad and impactful role, you will add value by: <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Leading the development and continuous evolution of Medibank’s healthcare funding strategy, aligned to claims growth, affordability and risk objectives.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Designing and refining hospital funding models, including DRG-based, bundled, per diem and other innovative approaches.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Evaluating funding model performance using internal data, market insights and international best practice to drive continuous improvement.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Partnering across policy, analytics, provider networks and customer teams to translate funding strategy into delivery.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Providing strategic and analytical problem-solving to identify opportunities that improve healthcare affordability and customer outcomes.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Supporting healthcare policy and reform initiatives, contributing funding expertise to advocacy and external engagement.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the healthcare and hospital sector, including providers, industry partners and clinicians.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Identifying risks, opportunities and innovative approaches to optimise funding models and provider performance.</li> </ul> About you You are an experienced strategy or funding professional with a strong background in healthcare, ideally with exposure to hospital funding models or provider networks. Your ability to combine strategic thinking, analytical rigour and stakeholder engagement will be critical to success in this role. Key attributes and experience include: <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Demonstrated experience in strategy development, funding, or consulting within the healthcare or hospital sector.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Strong understanding of healthcare funding models and the broader Australian healthcare system.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Proven capability to design, evaluate and implement strategic initiatives, ideally within healthcare funding or provider strategy.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Experience working with hospital systems, provider networks or healthcare delivery organisations is highly regarded.</li> <li style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:12.0pt">Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience in financial modelling, business cases or performance evaluation.</li> </ul> Imagine working with us We understand that work means different things to everyone...
