Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Major DutiesIncumbent has the knowledge of the operation and installation of a wide range of electrical systems (480 volts and below) and equipment such as series, parallel and compound circuits for single and multiple phase alternating current of varying voltages, amperages and frequencies; wiring systems in hospital buildings; and power or regulating and control circuits and distribution panels to hospital equipment, control equipment, computers, surgical and laboratory equipment and other related electrical equipment at this medical center. Other major duties include, but are not limited to the following: Perform installation, maintenance, and/or repair, modify, maintain, troubleshoot, test and verify loads on new and existing electrical lines, circuits, system and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment. Work on wide range of voltages, (480 volts and below) amperage, phases, and frequency requirements, to distribution panels, switchgear, power and control circuits, Environmental Management Service equipment, Food and Nutrition Service equipment, automatic transfer switches, emergency generators, hospital beds, lighting systems. Incumbent determines and installs distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections and install wiring, coupling, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm, 7:00AM - 3:30PM, 7:30AM - 4:00PM Position Description Title/PD#: Electrician/PD0008A Physical Requirements: Incumbent makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms and other hard to reach places. Incumbent is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Incumbent frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment and parts that weigh up to 20 pounds and less often, up to 40 pounds.
