About this role

As Sr. Associate Counsel, you will be responsible for managing and supporting a diverse range of litigation and pre-litigation matters, as well as providing day-to-day legal advice to a variety of business units within the company. Litigation matters are likely to include class action lawsuits, breach of contract and other business disputes, and responding to third-party subpoenas and government requests. This role will report into Visa’s Global Litigation & Competition team.

Responsibilities:

Developing case strategy in partnership with business units and driving resolution of litigation disputesManaging outside counselReviewing and approving pleadings and motions, and attending court hearings and depositionsCoordinating discovery, including collection and production of materialsProviding legal advice to business functions on a wide variety of pre-litigation issues arising from business-as-usual activitiesKeeping Visa management and business units apprised of litigation developments and strategyThis is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. ​

Qualifications:

Required education: JD from ABA accredited law school and admitted to relevant state barPreferred years’ experience: 4-6 years full-time employment in top-tier law firm or in-house environmentExperience in all phases of litigation; experience with complex litigation, class actions, antitrust/competition law, IP litigation, and e-discovery preferredStrong analytical, problem-solving and writing skillsDemonstrates leadership skills and strategic focusStrong interpersonal skills; ability to build strong working relationships at all levels of management and work on cross-functional teamsAble to perform both independently and in a team environment Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 180,600.00 to 235,150.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
