Role Summary
About you
The School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences is seeking to grow our team by appointing a full-time Assistant Professor in Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation (teaching focused) who will contribute to a range of education-related and administration activities within the School across our pre and post registration physiotherapy programmes.
About the role
Working within the physiotherapy programme teams, you will make a substantial contribution to the leadership and delivery of musculoskeletal physiotherapy education on the School’s qualifying physiotherapy degree programmes and our postgraduate musculoskeletal physiotherapy programmes on our Edgbaston and Dubai campuses. You will lead and contribute to module teams which plan, prepare and deliver excellent engaging and challenging teaching that inspires students and prepares them for current and future practice and a career in physiotherapy. You will seek out opportunities to develop the educational experience for our students which may include the identification and enhancement of placement education, integrating simulation into the curriculum and using new technology to support teaching, learning and assessment.
Main Duties
Education
To contribute on a sustained basis to the delivery of physiotherapy and healthcare education across our Edgbaston and Dubai campuses. Where appropriate, this will include:
Undertaking a broad range of teaching activities; Teaching and assessing courses at a range of levels Planning and reviewing your own teaching approaches and encouraging others to do the same Designing contemporary, inclusive, engaging and academically challenging curriculum content
Frequently updating your subject expertise, and undertaking personal and professional development in teaching, including self-reflection on own teaching, using student and peer review feedback, to enhance own teaching and learning processes Contributing to the knowledge base of the subject to advance teaching through the enhancement of practice, the development of teaching resources and/or through practice-based research Actively engaging students in curriculum and assessment design and sharing evidence of “what works” Ensuring that your teaching practice is informed by discipline-based research, through participating in the research culture of the School
Management/Administration
To contribute to Departmental /School administration. This may include:
Contribute to the allocation and administration of student healthcare clinical placements Contributing to the administration/management of teaching across the Department/School
Person Specification
Registered health professional (e.g., Physiotherapist or other musculoskeletal focussed AHP) holding current HCPC or relevant professional registration Postgraduate qualification (MSc/MRes or higher) relevant to the musculoskeletal rehabilitation discipline In depth understanding of health care delivery in the UK NHS context
