About this role

The role

We are seeking to appoint an experienced researcher with an outstanding track record of academic achievement to join Bristol Medical School to develop, lead, and support research into inclusive research and healthcare practice.

Note that there are separate job descriptions for the Grade K and Grade L roles, but only one position is available.

This post is funded by the NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) Integrated Care Board (ICB), and the postholder will support the ICB Research Strategy, and the ICB Research Team’s approach to inclusive research and practice.

Part-time working will be considered, at a minimum of 0.5FTE.

Hybrid working permitted flexibly in line with the University policy, with an expectation of a minimum of 2 days on campus per week, but to be determined in consultation with line manager.

What will you be doing?

Your role in this post will be to carry out, develop and support research into inclusive research and healthcare practice, and provide academic leadership for the same within the Medical School and the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) Integrated Care Board (ICB).

In this role you will carry out your own research, generate research outputs, secure external grant income, and support and develop inclusive research and healthcare practice across BMS and BNSSG. You will contribute to the training and support of others, and may supervise more junior researchers. You will also contribute to the wider School research environment, for example, through line managing and mentoring colleagues, and attending Centre and School meetings.

You will be involved in the education of undergraduates and postgraduates, and you will play a role in the BNSSG ICB approach to inclusive research practice and supporting the ICB Research Team to deliver on the ICB Research Strategy.

Additional information

Contract type: Open-ended with funding for two years from the start date (01/02/2026-31/01/2028- start date negotiable)

Work pattern: Full-time/ 1 FTE (part-time considered)

Grade: K or L

Salary: grade K: £50,253 - £58,225 or grade L: 59,966- 73,710 per annum (pro rata if part time)

School/Unit: Bristol Medical School

Shift pattern: 35 hours/week
