General Description The purpose of this class within the organization is to performs accounting tasks such as account analysis, journal entries, and reconciling bank statements.

Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• Monitors assigned funds, which includes reconciling assets and liabilities and analyzing revenues and expenditures to ensure budget vs. actual is appropriate on a monthly basis. • Performs daily accounting review and approval of activity for assigned departments; prepares needed journal entries or bank transactions in the general ledger. • Prepares and submits bank reconciliations monthly on a timely basis. • Works with relevant departments regarding inventory and provides fuel usage information to the accounts receivable accountant for timely billing. • Effectively communicates with departmental staff, other county staff and external customers. • Works to ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards. • Assists in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Prefers an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. • Prefers experience in government accounting, general finance operations or closely related experience.

The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects. The work is typically performed in an office.
