About The Role

This is a Fixed Term contract for 5 months working 21 hours per week.

We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant to carry out testing and analysis of polymer-based antimicrobials against a range of pathogenic bacterial strains. The role will involve using techniques such as UV–Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence assays, confocal microscopy, ELISA, MTT and haemolysis assays, and immunostaining to screen antimicrobial polymers and nanoparticles synthesised in the chemistry laboratory. The candidate will also be responsible for data analysis and preparing presentations for discussion at regular project meetings. In addition, they will support lab management activities and assist students working in the biolab.

Welsh Language Skills

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
