Job Description Summary: Residential Psych Tech (RPT) is a staff level employee who is a member of the cottage based treatment team and is responsible for providing day-to-day care and supervision of the children/residents and assists in the implementation of the individualized treatment plan of each resident as prescribed. RPT provides services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance abuse and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often times have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. RPT demonstrates a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. RPT will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received. RPT reports to the Cottage Supervisor.
Education:
• A high school degree or equivalent is required.
Work Experiences:
• Residential Psych Tech shall be familiar with and trained in the use of behavioral management techniques and general behavior modification principles. • RPT must have an ability to work with youth and consistently follow and apply behavioral principles within the residential setting
Responsibilities:
• Charts all pertinent observation on a continuing basis regarding residents • Subject to mandatory overtime and shift changes • Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Supervises and assists residents in wake-up, meals, recreation, counseling, education/vocation needs, daily routine and hygiene, house rules and sleep • Works as a team member with other staff to implement program plans • Provides direct behavior observations and reinforcement of appropriate behaviors as prescribed by the cottage based treatment team • Participates in Team Meetings, shift information exchanges, daily cottage briefings and has input in the evaluation and treatment plan progress of each resident
Physical Requirements:
• Normal direct care environment. • Medium physical effort requires handling of average weight objects of up to 50 pounds and standing and walking. • Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours and deal with irate individuals. • TB test upon hire.
