Job Opportunity
The key responsibilities for the Plant Engineer are:
Plant Process Engineering - (50%)
• Work closely with production, engineering and quality resources to monitor, evaluate, and improve product/process consistency and efficiency by implementing equipment, procedure and process changes.
• Develop/implement Process Control Systems utilizing the MPCS system for products at the Geino facilities consistent with global practices.
• Assess manufacturing operations for safety, health, and environmental risks and implement sustainable improvements
• Evaluate equipment needs to improve operations (safety, quality, cost, reliability, capacity) and work with Project Engineering and Maintenance resources to implement projects
• Coordinates all plant FMOC (Facility Management of Change) activities.
Project Engineering – (30%)
• Develop long range plant and process infrastructure capital plans to support facility growth and new product introductions.
• Develop annual capital budget and monitor progress to insure spending targets are achieved.
• Provide project management leadership to successfully execute plant infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
New Product/Process Development – (20%)
• Lead the commercial implementation of new products/processes into the plant; coordinate the integration with operations personnel, including documentation, training and startup.
• Maintain close communications with the appropriate Engineering teams to identify new product activities (initial product demand, equipment requirements, process capability and costs).
• Identify potential obstacles for product start ups related to environmental, safety, and health areas and develop solutions to overcome obstacles.
• Support all Engineering teams to identify and establish the parameters for a successful process (equipment specifications, process conditions, instrumentation accuracy, etc.) and standardize systems across all product lines.
Required Qualifications:
• Education – Bachelors degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical field
• Experience – Seven or more years in chemical manufacturing environment. Experience in batch/continuous specialty chemical operations preferred. Supervisory experience a strong plus.
• Technical - Solid statistical knowledge and background related to SPC. Must possess excellent process engineering skills. Working knowledge of PLC operations; knowledge of recipe management a strong plus. Six Sigma certification is desirable.
• Interpersonal - Effective communication in English as well, and presentation skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
• Computer – Proficient skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. ERP systems (Oracle preferred) knowledge.
