In this role you will:

Key Responsibilities

• Automation & Equipment Development

• Design, procure, implement, and validate advanced automation systems and capital equipment to enhance operational efficiency and manufacturing scalability.

• Develop new automated equipment by coordinating its design, fabrication, and qualification, ensuring manufacturability, reliability, safety, and total lifecycle cost effectiveness.

• Drive the introduction of capacity‑scaling equipment to support production expansion—reducing ramp‑up time, mitigating risks, and ensuring alignment with global demand plans.

• Identify, lead, and support continuous improvement initiatives and new equipment/process projects by developing detailed specifications, electrical drawings, implementation plans, and other required documentation.

• Evaluate existing processes and introduce new automation, tooling, or process‑improvement methods to enhance product flow, improve quality, increase first‑pass yield, and reduce cost and lead time.

• Create or revise work instructions, routings, and technical documentation; train production and maintenance teams on setup, operation, and troubleshooting of equipment and processes.

Global Platform Standardization

• Establish, deploy, and continuously improve globally standardized equipment platforms across multiple manufacturing sites.

• Ensure consistent equipment performance, simplified maintenance procedures, optimized spare‑parts strategies, and accelerated technology transfer.

Manufacturing Performance & Collaboration

• Partner with manufacturing, quality, and supply‑chain teams to achieve 100% on‑time delivery performance by eliminating quality issues, resolving bottlenecks, and improving equipment performance and capacity.

• Support readiness for new product introductions, ensuring equipment capabilities, documentation, and processes meet production requirements.

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

• A background in mechanical engineering or equipment design is preferred.

• Licensed mechanical engineer is preferred.

• Hands‑on experience in designing and commissioning automated mechanical systems.

• Proficiency in designing mechanical components and automation mechanisms is preferred.

• Experience with robotics integration, including robot programming, end‑effector design, and safety systems.

• Experience with vision systems, image processing, and camera‑based inspection technology.

• Expertise in safety system design, including risk assessment, functional safety, and safety controller programming.

• Experience with mechanical reliability tools or statistical process control (SPC) is a plus.

• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, a plus.

• Experience with SQL—specifically MS‑SQL—and the ability to navigate, create, and optimize databases for historical data storage and data analysis is a plus.

• Familiarity with electrical systems and control panel design, such as wiring diagrams, sensors, actuators, and power distribution.

• Capability to perform root‑cause analysis using structured methods such as 5‑Why, FMEA, or fishbone analysis.

• Strong project management skills, including requirement definition, scheduling, and cross‑functional communication.

Your success will be measured by:

• Commitment to safety for colleagues and the environment.

• Completion of critical projects in a manner that satisfies the customer (internal or external), is within the agreed upon timeline and budget, and exemplifies our core PACE values.

• Collaboration with the Manufacturing Engineering team and Production team and R&D team.

• Ability to lead teams and implement long range vision elements as related to automation through continuous improvement initiatives and strategic planning.

• Ability to work with a diverse group of people across geographies and skill sets to accomplish automation objectives.
