About this role

Visiting Scientist Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. We are united in our mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS, and related diseases. We strive to create an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment where we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all backgrounds, and design programs to promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals. The D'Andrea lab investigates chromosome instability and susceptibility to cancer. Our laboratory examines the molecular signaling pathways which regulate the DNA damage response in mammalian cells. Disruption of these pathways, by germline or somatic mutation, leads to genomic instability, cellular sensitivity to ionizing radiation, and defective cell cycle checkpoints and DNA repair. These pathways are often disrupted in cancer cells, accounting for the chromosome instability and increased mutation frequency in human tumors. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Visiting Scientist to join a dynamic team investigating the molecular basis of genomic stability and RNA-dependent modulation of DNA damage response signaling in human cancers. The candidate will work in a cutting-edge research environment with access to advanced molecular biology tools and technologies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the D’Andrea lab visiting scientist will include, but not be limited to:

• Design and conduct experiments related to DNA repair pathways. • Analyze data, interpret results, and present findings at internal and external scientific meetings. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medicinal chemists and clinical researchers. • Contribute to manuscript writing and grant applications. • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the overall research environment.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D., MD or combination of advanced degrees, with a minimum of 4 years of postdoctoral experience in experimental therapeutics, preferably in oncology.

• Ability to work within a team environment and train/mentor junior investigators. Qualifications

• PhD or MD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field. • Strong background in DNA repair, cancer biology, or chromatin biology is preferred. • Experience with mammalian cell culture, protein purification, and molecular cloning. • Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment. • Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.

At Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, we work every day to create an innovative, caring, and inclusive environment where every patient, family, and staff member feels they belong. As relentless as we are in our mission to reduce the burden of cancer for all, we are committed to having faculty and staff who offer multifaceted experiences. Cancer knows no boundaries and when it comes to hiring the most dedicated and compassionate professionals, neither do we. If working in this kind of organization inspires you, we encourage you to apply. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is an equal opportunity employer and affirms the right of every qualified applicant to receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, national origin, sexual orientation, genetic information, disability, age, ancestry, military service, protected veteran status, or other characteristics protected by law.
