Job Description Position Summary The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated post-doctoral fellow to contribute to federal and industry funded research projects. This individual will join a multi-disciplinary research team to support primary project activities and pilot studies as well as have opportunities to develop independent research questions within the scope of these existing projects.
1. This evergreen posting will remain open and continue collecting applications until October 31, 2026. Applicants who wish to be considered after this date must reapply. 2. The focus of this position will be to:
• Create and implement standard operating procedures for government/industry sponsored clinical studies.
• Coordinate communication between Data Safety Monitor, Sponsor (s), PI, and study personnel.
• Conduct training and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
• Submit and maintain IRB protocols.
• Recruit study participants and communicate with key stakeholders.
• Participate in literature reviews, grant proposal and manuscript development, and development of presentations for conferences and reports for funding agencies/sponsors.
Salary Range $60,000 to $75,000 - 1 FTE
Essential Job Duties Essential job duties vary depending on the hiring laboratory and research program, but may include:
• Clinical trial conduct and compliance and regulatory oversight. Percentage of time = 70
• Writing manuscripts on research results and assisting with project reports and grants. Percentage of time = 20
• Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. Percentage of time = 10
Conditions of Employment Pre-employment criminal background check (required for new hires).
Supervision This position reports to a faculty member within the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Day-to-day supervision and expectations are defined by the hiring laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications
• Candidate must have received a PhD in a related field
Preferred Qualifications
• Current CITI training for Good Clinical Practices.
• Basic knowledge of bioinformatics data analysis pipelines and basic coding skills.
• Demonstrated skills in statistical approaches of various clinical trial designs.
• Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience mentoring and managing student projects.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a high functioning team.
