Job Description Position Summary This position performs specific nursing/patient care functions, and assists veterinary students, interns, residents, and faculty in a variety of specialized cardiovascular procedures.

• Veterinary Teaching Hospital At the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) we exist to educate the next generation of veterinarians by providing exceptional veterinary care and service to the community every day. This work unit exists to provide administration and direction of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and provide a support facility for service to the general public and referring veterinarians.

Essential Job Duties
• Provide advanced nursing and technical care for cardiology patients, including specialty diagnostics such as ECGs, blood pressure measurements, and Holter/Zio monitor placement.
• Coordinate clinic operations by managing patient flow, diagnostic testing, medical records, and timely communication with clinicians.
• Assist in the Interventional Radiology suite by preparing sterile fields, circulating during procedures, and supporting anesthesia and imaging needs.
• Operate and maintain advanced imaging and procedural equipment, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked clinical environments while enforcing aseptic and safety standards.
• Teach and mentor students and staff on cardiology and IR procedures, patient handling, and equipment use.
• Provide professional client communication, including scheduling, follow-up, and sharing diagnostic and discharge information.
• Perform other related duties as needed to support cardiology service operations.
Conditions of Employment Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires). Essential Services Designation: Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety and welfare.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) Certification recognized by the state of Colorado.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting, with demonstrated proficiency in animal handling, client communication, and basic lab techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology, animal science, or related field
• Experience working in cardiology or surgical services
• Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize time-sensitive procedures, and maintain accurate records.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, referring veterinarians, and colleagues.
• Experience training or mentoring others, including students, interns, or residents.
