About this role

Compensation Type: Hourly‎ Compensation: $17.50‎ FWS Micro Internships are short-term, project-based work assignment completed by a Federal Work Study student with defined deliverables and learning outcomes. These projects are 10 - 40 hours total and are not on-going, operational roles. Selected students will deliver specific outcomes, build professional skills, and support departmental needs in a short-term capacity.

The Languages & Communication department is looking for student support with conference preparation projects for July - early August.‎

Project Summary Two Languages & Communication Instructors (Seth Smith and Melissa Cumberbatch) are the conference coordinators for the Ohio Communication Association, one of the oldest State Communication Associations in America. This project would assist the team with data entry organization and entry for conference preparation.

• Conversion of MS Word documents to .pdf files

• Maintain records

• Ensuring all documents remain anonymous

• Update spreadsheets

• Database of .pdf files from current database of word files

• Categorized .pdf files

Minimum/General Qualifications: This position requires applicants to:

• Have an Accepted Federal Work Study award as part of their 2025-26 Financial Aid award with Columbus State. View your Financial Aid in CougarWeb Self-Service. • Be enrolled in SIX or more credit hours in a degree or certificate program. • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements. • Have a high school diploma or a certificate of attendance from an accredited secondary school or a certificate of high school equivalence and be exempt from Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4109. • Have reliable transportation or other means of getting to work regularly.

Schedule: TBD by the needs of department and student schedule between office hours of Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Maximum 20 hours per week. Project timeframe is 10-40 hours.

Work location for this role is: Phillips Hall Room 225. Phillips Hall is located on the Franklin University campus on 303 S. Grant Avenue ( the corner of Grant Ave. and E. Main Street) about a mile south of the Columbus campus.
