About this role
The Safety Assistant provides vital administrative and analytical support to the Safety Group. This role is designed for an individual eager to advance Clark's "24/7 culture of care" by assisting with policy administration, data visualization, and field-based learning. You will work closely with safety leadership to ensure our programs are data-driven and our safety policies are executed with precision.
PAY RANGE: $22.00 - $34.00
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Fitness for Duty Administration
• Policy Support: Assist in the daily administration of Clark's Fitness for Duty Policy. • Testing Coordination: Support the coordination of pre-employment drug screenings and the random quarterly "fitness for duty" testing program. • Compliance: Ensure all documentation related to workplace fitness and drug-free initiatives is maintained according to corporate standards.
Monthly Reporting & Documentation
• Data Assembly: Assist in gathering and assembling safety data, charts, and metrics for the Monthly Safety Report. • Accuracy & Timeliness: Help ensure that all project-specific safety performance data is reported accurately and published on schedule. • Regulatory Support: Help maintain documentation that aligns with federal, state, and local safety standards.
Safety Data Analysis
• Power BI Integration: Assist in developing and maintaining charts and dashboards within the new Safety Data Analysis tool in Power BI. • Trend Identification: Use data visualization to help leadership identify potential hazards and project-specific safety trends. • System Optimization: Provide input on how to improve data collection and reporting to better anticipate stakeholder needs.
Field Learning & Site Visits
• Mentorship Walks: Participate in site visits with Safety Group leadership to gain hands-on experience in hazard identification and job site organization. • Operational Exposure: Observe work being performed firsthand to better understand the practical application of occupational health and safety requirements. • Coaching Support: Assist leadership in coaching and educating trade contractors on site-specific safety plans.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Technical & Professional Experience
• Experience: 0–2 years of relevant experience; an undergraduate degree in Safety and Health or a related field is preferred. • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data tools (Power BI preferred) and strong written and verbal communication skills. • Training: OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus. • Mindset: A passion for the construction industry and a commitment to building interpersonal relationships with team members and trade partners.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
• On-Site Activity: This is an active, hands-on role requiring frequent standing and navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. Requires a full range of physical motion (bending, kneeling, reaching) and lifting up to 25 pounds frequently (occasionally up to 50 pounds). • Environmental Adaptability: Willingness to spend significant time on active construction sites exposed to all types of weather, moderate to loud noise levels, elevated/confined spaces, and moving mechanical equipment. • Office Integration: Includes desk time in a typical office setting for computer work, document reviews, and meetings.
