We are seeking an experienced, Automation Technician to support daily field operations and production optimization across our producing assets. This role is primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of plunger lift systems, production automation equipment, SCADA communications, and related field instrumentation.

What You Will Do:
Plunger Lift Optimization & Automation
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize plunger lift systems, controllers, automation equipment, and associated field instrumentation. • Monitor well performance and adjust controller parameters, including cycle times, shut-in periods, afterflow settings, and optimization schedules to maximize production and operating efficiency. • Utilize production data, field observations, and diagnostic tools to identify optimization opportunities and improve system performance. • Support artificial lift and production enhancement initiatives through effective automation strategies and equipment management. • Perform field testing, start-up, commissioning, and validation of automation systems and equipment.
Electrical & Instrumentation Support
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, control panels, instrumentation, communication devices, and production automation equipment. • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and technical documentation. • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, regulations, and company safety standards.
SCADA & Communications
• Develop and maintain proficiency in SCADA systems, telemetry networks, wireless communications, and remote monitoring technologies. • Troubleshoot communication issues involving radios, RTUs, PLCs, host systems, and related automation infrastructure.
Customer & Operational Support
• Review work orders, repair plans, and installation requirements to ensure a thorough understanding of equipment needs and project objectives. • Execute installations, repairs, and service activities while accurately documenting work performed and results achieved. • Prepare equipment failure analyses and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurring issues. • Build and maintain positive working relationships through professional communication and collaboration. • Maintain accurate truck inventory and ensure materials are properly tracked and managed. • Participate in after-hours callouts, overtime, and weekend work as operational needs require.
Required Education & Licensing
• Licensed Electrician or completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program. • Current and valid driver's license
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil and gas production, automation, electrical maintenance, or a related field. • Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting production automation systems and field instrumentation. • Demonstrated experience with plunger lift systems and optimization strategies. • Strong understanding of electrical theory, motor controls, instrumentation, and power distribution systems. • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience performing field maintenance on artificial lift and production equipment. • Ability to analyze operational data and make sound recommendations to improve well performance. • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and manage multiple wells and field locations. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other field-related software tools.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with PLCs, RTUs, and production automation platforms. • Knowledge of gas lift, rod lift, and other artificial lift systems. • Experience commissioning new wells and automation installations.
