We are looking to appoint a Management Accountant to join our Finance Directorate, reporting to the Finance Business Partner. This pivotal role will provide essential support in delivering financial analysis, reporting, and accounting across assigned Colleges. We are seeking an individual with strong analytical and communication skills, who brings a flexible, enthusiastic, and self-motivated approach to their work.
Job Responsibilities
Support FBP in developing robust annual budgets, by identifying and understanding the key drivers behind budget figures, including: Student enrolment numbers Full-time equivalent (FTE) staff and payroll costs Non-pay expenditure drivers
Support Finance Business Partner in developing forecasts, providing clear explanations for budget movements and variations against year-to-date spending trends. Provide timely month end reports with commentaries to the FBP for review and complete all month end tasks within the published timetable. Investigate and resolve day-to-day stakeholder queries, ensuring timely and accurate responses. Build and maintain effective relationships across all departments within your areas of remit. Assisting with audits, providing supporting documentation to auditors and addressing audit queries. Attend Finance meetings, record agreed actions and ensure they are followed through to resolution.
The Successful Candidate The ideal candidate will be a confident and proactive Management Accountant, driven to deliver process improvements and provide high-quality financial support to Finance Business Partner. They will demonstrate excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to work flexibly, manage competing priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
Part-qualified accountant status with a strong academic background. Solid finance and accounting experience within a similar size organisation. Experience in the higher education or not-for-profit sector (desirable). Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a wide stakeholder group. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with Excel skills essential. Strong administrative and organisational abilities. High levels of IT literacy, numeracy, and written communication. Excellent team working skills and a collaborative approach. Flexibility to work in a hybrid model, with at least three days per week on campus and up to two days working from home.
