About this role

About this role

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join a newly established research group formed by Dr Daniel Turnham at UWE Bristol. Our lab is dedicated to advancing understanding of prostate cancer progression and identifying novel therapeutic targets to improve treatment options for advanced disease.

You will contribute to two exciting projects funded by The Academy of Medical Sciences and UWE’s Vice-Chancellor's Early Career Researcher Award scheme, both focused on developing innovative therapeutic approaches for advanced prostate cancer. Your work will involve a range of experimental techniques, including 2D and 3D cell culture, qRT-PCR, Western blotting, and omics-based analysis. In addition to supporting day-to-day project activities, you will collaborate closely with postgraduate students and other team members, fostering a dynamic and supportive research environment.

You will join an enthusiastic new research group within UWE’s Centre for Biomedical Research, which benefits from state-of-the-art laboratories, facilities, and equipment.

About you

You will need to have a strong background in cell or cancer biology and hold a BSc (Hons) in biomedical sciences or a similar relevant discipline. Extensive experience in tissue culture and/or core molecular techniques is essential. You must also have experience in managing your workload independently and be able to demonstrate your ability to generate, analyse, and interpret experimental data.

Additional experience in RNA-seq, metabolomics, live-cell imaging, or dissecting animal tissues would be highly advantageous. You should have an excellent track record commensurate with your career stage, ideally including contributions to published work. A demonstrable interest in cancer biology and a focused plan for how this position could help you develop your career in research would also be beneficial.
