The Purpose of the role
The Department of Political Science in the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Political Science, with a start date of 3rd August 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching, research, and administrative activities within the department, supporting its mission to provide an outstanding academic experience for students.
We welcome applicants across all areas of political science, with particular interest in candidates specialising in international relations, comparative politics, public policy, or political communication. The role involves teaching core undergraduate modules, as well as specialist undergraduate and postgraduate courses, participating in interdisciplinary teaching initiatives, and providing supervision and mentoring to support the academic and professional development of students with diverse research interests.
