Position Summary This merchandiser position is for the Enderlin and Red Wing multi-commodity oilseed processing plants. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to be responsible for trading canola, sunflowers and flax in North Dakota and South Dakota as well as work across processing plants and business units to spread seed accordingly. You will need to have strong communication and develop strong trusting relationship with customers. You will help manage our canola futures and cash positions/ inventory as well as sunflower and flax cash position/inventory.
Description of Work Performed • Develops key communication links within ADM to ensure optimal use of ADM facilities and market access, and understanding of market requirements to facilitate the effectiveness of ADM assets • Able to prepare and analyze basic profit and loss and other divisional reports • Strategically seek out new business that would enhance the profitability of the assets. • Builds and maintains positive relationships with accounts that bring defined value • Maintains a clear customer account list and provides detailed background information in files • Handles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service • Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities • Works to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically • Develop clear understanding of local, national, world market, and trends • Aggressively makes outbound phone calls to deliver and receive timely market information • Price discovery and bid/offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricing • Understanding of margin calculations and their effect of commodity pricing • Constantly works on induvial and personal development within the company • Develops good understanding of local plant operations • Works to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions and responsibilities • Effectively use communication channels for proper coordination within the office and other locations • Portrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customer and colleagues. Job Requirements • 2 plus years grain trading experience • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, supply chain management • Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet specific deadlines. • High performer with initiative to learn other responsibilities. : Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
