About this role
Summary 2A is a 21-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit caring for critically ill adult and geriatric patients. Common diagnoses include cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, ARDS (including prone positioning), multi-system organ failure, renal failure requiring CVVHD, sepsis, and shock (septic, cardiogenic, hemorrhagic). The unit manages surgical ICU patients (lung, vascular, abdominal) and provides advanced airway management, pre- and post-coronary care, arterial/venous sheath management, wound care, and invasive/non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring. The unit also cares for pre-delivery and postpartum OB patients requiring ICU-level monitoring and may accept overflow from other ICUs.Job Description: Job Description
Medical ICU Unit Description: 2A ICU is a 21-bed medical/surgical ICU serving high acuity medical ICU patients. The unit population is cardiac interventions, SARS, Cardiogenic shock, Rotoprone, Post-partum critical care patients and complex care ICU patients most of which have a medical or cardiac diagnosis.

Job Description:
• The Registered Nurse (RN) implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.
• The Registered Nurse (RN) is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness.
• As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:
• Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
• Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
• Basic life support- Applicants will have 30 days from their hired date to provide completion of this certification if they don’t have it already.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
