Job SummaryAbout the Position: This position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning, Georgia. Work is performed in an outpatient physical therapy setting. General work hours 0700-1530. A recruitment or relocation incentive MAY be authorized. Salary negotiation MAY be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment MAY be authorized. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

QualificationsWho May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing physical therapy treatment plans; and instructing on physical therapy programs or providing physical therapy program status reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). AND License/Certification: You must submit a copy of your current, active, valid, and unrestricted Physical Therapy Assistant license or certification from a state, District of Columbia, or territory of the United States. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Major DutiesPlan, coordinate, and administer diverse physical therapy programs for wounded, ill and injured patients under the general supervision of the Physical Therapist.Utilize various modalities of physical therapy, as prescribed, such as diathermy, hydrotherapy, massage, electrotherapy, ultrasound and therapeutic exercise.Implement progressive patient treatment plans designed to restore and maintain range of motion, strength, endurance, coordination, and relaxation.Design treatment plans with consideration of patient’s medical history and which promote healing, pain relief and improvement of functional independence.Educate patient and/or and family members about application of physical modalities for home environment to include precautions and contraindications.Track treatment plan effectiveness and report problems to supervisor.
