About this role

Job summary

The Barnet Early Intervention in Psychosis service provides a range of specialist mental health intervention to people with symptoms of early onset psychosis within the London Borough of Barnet. The main function of the Early Intervention Service is to assess and where appropriate meet the continuing social and mental health needs of people who experience a first episode of psychosis. We aim to provide a specialist service, for the early identification, assessment and treatment of people between the ages of 18 to 64 years who present with a first episode of psychosis.

We are looking for a strong and inspiring clinical lead that is self-motivated and able to develop strong working partnerships with colleagues and ableto support the Early Intervention Service (EIS) team manager who is responsible for effectively managing the EIS staff, a multi-professional team. The post is open to staff with a professional Mental Health background who meet the skills set in the attached specification for Band 7. The post holder responsibilities are those set in the attached job description.

Main duties of the job

To support the Early Intervention Service, Manager with the operational management of the team. To work in partnership with staff in the delivery of an integrated service that facilitates the well being and recovery of service users. To assist in the effective delivery of the team's core functions and lead on clinical supervision within the team, and lead on the development of protocols, procedures and systems to integrate practice across the borough wide service. Deputize for the EIS manager as requested. To work cohesively with senior management to provide a responsive and innovative service delivering a high-quality mental health service to the service users and provide clinical advice and support to other professions within the mental health care setting and external agencies. Provide professional leadership when required within the EIS and support staff in implementing evidence-based psycho social interventions. Provide effective care within the multidisciplinary team setting for people experiencing a first episode of psychosis who are living in the community. Assess care needs, devise care plans, implement and evaluate these in collaboration with individual service users and also with carers. Ensure service users are involved with all aspects of planning and delivery of their own care plans and also in the development of the service. Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

FOR NURSES RMN registration OR SOCIAL WORKER Registration with the General Social Care Council (to 1 August 2012) OR FOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS Registration with the HPC, Diploma in occupational therapy or BSc. in occupational therapy.

Desirable

Management and Leadership experience.

Professional Experience Essential

Significant clinical experience in community based services. Demonstrable experience at Band 6 or equivalent.

Skills and Knowledge Essential

Ability to demonstrate in depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983/ amended 2007, Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Codes of Practice for both. Children's Act 1989. Care Act 2014. Training and advanced skills in a specialised approach such as psycho-social interventions, dual diagnosis, personality disorder.

Other requirements Essential

Understanding of and ability to develop, promote and maintain equal opportunities in all areas of work. Ability to travel across a geographical area and various locations within the Trust.
