Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Derbyshire County Councils Public Health Department to support the delivery of Tobacco Dependency Treatment. We are looking to appoint a Health Improvement Advisor to deliver Tobacco Dependency Treatment across maternity and inpatients based at Royal Derby Hospital.
Main duties of the job
This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and growing service which is looking for individuals with a passion and ability for supporting people addicted to tobacco.
You will require excellent communication and listening skills with a knowledge and understanding of behaviour change. You will require experience of working independently and the role also requires partnership working and promotion. A good level of IT literacy will also be required to navigate IT systems and ensure high quality data. Knowledge and experience of tobacco dependency would be advantageous for this role.

Qualifications Essential
Level 2 qualification in Understanding Health Improvement or the willingness to undertake when in post within 6 months Level 3 Smoking Cessation Training Level 4 Obesity and Diabetes Management AC83 October 2017 NCSCT Level 2 Smoking Cessation Training or willingness to undertake within 6 months when in post (Smoking Cessation only)* OR Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Physical Activity (or equivalent)(for weight management group advisors only) or willingness to undertake within 6 months when in post * OR YMCA FIT Diploma in Exercise Referral or equivalent such as Wright Foundation Exercise Referral or willingness to undertake within 6 months when in post (PA advisors only)

Experience Essential
Experience of delivering support, enabling people to make a behaviour change. Experience of working with individuals, including vulnerable groups, from within local communities. Experience of devising and delivering a lifestyle intervention (smoking cessation, weight management or physical activity) Experience of delivering training

Experience of delivering behaviour change interventions in group settings e.g. weight management, smoking cessation or wellbeing support. Experience of facilitating group work Experience of working with families and children
