Job summary
Saffron Health Partnership is looking to recruit a Salaried GP to join our friendly, committed and hard-working team.
The Salaried GP role is an important part of the practice's multidisciplinary clinical team, as well as the wider staff team. The clinical team is currently composed of 7 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, a Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Care Practitioners (Paramedics), Practice Nurses, HCAs, a Phlebotomist and Pharmacy Technicians.
Working alongside the practice clinicians are clinicians from Sandhills Primary Care Network, of which the practice is a member. These include Pharmacists, an additional Pharmacy Technician, First Contact Practitioners, a Care Co-ordinator, a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and an additional GP.
Main duties of the job
To support 7 GP Partners in managing a busy and interesting clinical caseload. The appointee will have the opportunity to take part or lead on key disease areas, including monitoring trends in treatment, staff training and prescribing. There will also be opportunities to assist in developing appropriate healthcare services and health promotion campaigns. We are a GMS Practice.

We are a long-established practice with approximately 22,000 patients. Our team comprises of 7 GP Partners supported by 55 clinical and non-clinical staff.
Together we serve patients across Biggleswade, Sandy, Langford and the surrounding areas.
The practice is also a member of Sandhills Primary Care Network with which it has a positive and collaborative working relationship.

Clinical responsibilities
In accordance with the practice rotas, as agreed, the postholder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging, fair share of on-call duties, visiting patients at home (occasional), checking and signing repeat prescriptions, as well as dealing with queries, patient test results, referral letters, and paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the practice.
Recording clear and accurate consultation notes in SystmOne (the practice's clinical system), to agreed standards.
Collecting data for audit purposes and contributing to practice audits, as required.
Compiling and issuing electronically generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines
In general, the postholder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Quality
The postholder will strive to maintain quality within the practice, and will:
Alert other team members to Clinical Governance issues, quality and risk, and participate in Significant Event Analysis reviews.
Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision.
Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and wider practice team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the practice teams performance.
Work effectively with individuals from external agencies to meet patient needs.
Effectively manage own time, workload and resources as well as contributing to the overall teamwork of the practice putting the needs of the practice first.
Prescribe safely and effectively, conforming toNICE guidance, Good Prescribing Practice as defined by British National Formulary (BNF) guidance from Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain on safe and secure handling of medicine, Controlled Drugs legislation, shared protocols agreed between the ICB and other NHS providers, locally specified Patient Group Directions and practice prescribing protocols. In addition, the postholder will be expected to operate safe management and regular review for all patients receiving repeat prescriptions.
Adhere to the practice's referral process, such as ensuring that adequate information is given to the service to which the patient has been referred to allow for proper assessment to be made by the service.
Participate, where necessary, in the complaints handling procedure to allow for a proper investigation and appropriate follow up action in the event of a complaint being made about any aspect of the service provided.
Other responsibilities
Awareness of and compliance with practice policies, protocols and guidelines, for example prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety and QoF work.
A commitment to continuing professional development and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
Contributing to individual case discussions at clinical meetings and as well as bringing examples of cases for group discussion.
Participating in the organisational development of the practice by contributing to the development of ideas, strategies and policies which will promote efficiency and staff wellbeing.
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the practice.
Attending training, practice meetings and other events, as necessary.

The postholder is required to participate in the internal annual individual performance review as well as the compulsory external annual GP Appraisal programme.
