Job summary
The Ophthalmology Booking Team at the Royal Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for providing full outpatient and elective management for the Ophthalmology Department. We require a friendly, approachable person to join our team as a Junior Booking Clerk to provide invaluable support to our Booking Coordinators. The successful candidate would work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within the Ophthalmology. Your duties will include the booking of complex out- patient appointments across all sub specialties and processing emergency eye referrals from a range of service users.
A professional manner is required. Good communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to follow instructions and a willingness to learn. The ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative is a must, accurate data input and attention to detail are essential.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate competency in the use of computer packages and information systems, previous NHS experience in a similar role would be desirable. A caring disposition and a flexible approach are essential to this role.The ability to work to deadlines is essential. You will also need to demonstrate the ability to deal sensitively and confidently with people.
Candidates must be flexible around service needs to include evenings. You will be expected to work shifts flexibly and will be provided with a 4 week shift rota. Core hours are 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job

You will be responsible primarily for supporting our Booking Coordinators to provide a comprehensive booking service within Ophthalmology, whilst additionally completing all associated tasks to ensure our patients receive an excellent first impression, whilst ensuring all necessary data is recorded to facilitate the patient's attendance management under the 18 week pathway.
Duties will include liaising with patients and internal departments over the telephone, registering patients and their referrals, printing referrals from Choose and Book and organising triaging, booking and confirming appointments using LE2.2, Choose and Book (ERS), dealing with enquiries, using waiting lists to book patients, filing and other general clerical duties.
