Main duties of the job

The EDI Specialist ensures equality is embedded across Trust policies, services and daily functions, providing expert advice to Directors, senior managers and staff. They analyse, interpret and present complex EDI data, producing clear reports using statistical, graphical and narrative formats (e.g., analyse, interpret and communicate EDI data clearly through reports). They lead and qualityassure Equality Analyses, support Inclusive Decision Making, and develop action plans based on findings.

The role includes designing and delivering EDI training, challenging discriminatory practice, and communicating sensitive or contentious information. The post holder leads EDI projects, chairs meetings, and reports progress, risks and compliance to committees and the Trust Board (reporting to EDI Committees and Commissioners on progress, risks and action plans). They create EDI resources, maintain the Trusts equality webpages, and establish effective working groups.

They provide expert guidance on equality legislation, support strategic planning, manage multiple workstreams, and research best practice. The role requires maintaining accurate records, using information systems, analysing complex data, and engaging with staff, communities and stakeholders to promote inclusion and improve access to services.
