Job summary South, South East & London | Regional travel required

This is not a single-service leadership role.

You will operate at a regional and strategic level, working across multiple services to ensure clinical practice is safe, effective, consistent and continuously improving.

The post holder will support the Associate Director of Nursing (ADN) with building strategic stakeholder relationships, aligning CGL clinically in readiness for the potential of new and diverse business opportunities. They will support the ADN and operational colleagues in managing new implementations ensuring consistency of clinical practice.

Providing clinical leadership they will oversee nursing clinical practice within their region, working alongside nursing and operational colleagues to develop, implement, monitor, and improve clinical practice.

The RLN will support the ADN with developing and delivering national clinical practice development plans, nurturing a culture of continuous improvement, assuring that all services are safe, clinically effective and demonstrating excellent innovative practice in line with national guidelines.

As a Regional Lead Nurse you will work strategically with clinical and operational colleagues to ensure the people who use our services receive effective and responsive care, helping them get to where they want to be in their recovery journey.

You will be an integral part of the clinical leadership team whilst supporting as needed your peers across the region and the organisation.

Main duties of the job

The role includes:

Demonstrating skills of a motivated leader including being enthusiastic, creative, ability to inspire and committed to leading the nursing teams.Developing and delivery of clinical, health and wellbeing interventions.Providing clinical and managerial supervision to the Lead nurses.Contributing to service development to ensure that all who use our services consistently receive high quality interventions that adhere to best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards.Demonstrating excellent clinical skills and monitor, audit and sustain best practice across the sites within the location.Developing and implementing new initiatives/services.Demonstrating an effective collaborative style of leadership that is internally visible to the organisation and externally to partners, stakeholders and the wider public.

Job description Job responsibilities

Working alongside Lead Nurses, Service Managers, Directors and Senior Management Teams to assure that all clinical practice is integrated operationally, to provide a high standard of care for our service users and safeguard effective use of resources.

To support the Associate Director of Nursing in giving direction on clinical/nurse service development to ensure that all clinical/ nursing services are delivered to a high standard in line with CGL policies, procedures, and best practice.

Support the Associate Director of Nursing with building regional and local strategic stakeholder relationships.

Supporting the Associate Director of Nursing in developing new models of practice and supporting tender design and submissions.

To support the Associate Director of Nursing ensuring that all clinical services are functioning in line with all governance requirements, including CQC Essential Standards of quality and safety, Quality Improvement Plans, Clinical Strategies, Medicines Management, and Infection Control.

Ensure the accurate and timely collation of required data information and reports as required by Associate Director of Nursing and the Directors.

Develop and implement clinical operational policies in line with the Central Directorate of Quality, Governance, and Innovation so that services are effectively delivered, controlled, monitored, and reported.

To support the Associate Director of Nursing to manage and provide clinical supervision and support to the Lead Nurses/ Clinical Manager leads (non-medical) in the geographical region.

To take the clinical lead in new implementations ensuring that the nursing and clinical element of the new service is implemented in line with CGL governance and practice.

To partake in clinical audits alongside medical staff and senior operational management, contributing to risk registers, clinical work plans and service quality improvement plans.

Attend, organise and service (as required) relevant clinical advisory groups and committees and partnership meetings, to ensure appropriate representation of services.

Undertake any other appropriate tasks that may be allocated by the Senior Leadership Team from time to time, for the benefit of services in particular geographical area as well as Change Grow Live in general.

Disseminate information to lead nurses from the senior operational and clinical management teams.

Have oversight of clinical audits undertaken in services to ensure regulatory compliance.

Have oversight of overall performance of the services to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved.

Support clinical services in the region to deliver a high standard of care in line with national guidance, CGL policies, procedures, and best practice, and in line with CQC Essential Standards. Ensure that procedures are constantly reviewed to promote effective evidenced based practice.

Work closely with HR to ensure the appropriate people and change management skills, knowledge and capabilities are in place within line management structures and teams.

To oversee the clinical aspects of implementations of new clinical developments within services as required.

Ensure that all legislative requirements are explained to employees in particular the legislation governing the clinical and social care/community field.

Engage proactively with both participating and providing clinical supervision to lead nurses and maintain a current knowledge of appropriate interventions.

Effectively manage and develop lead nurses and participate in the core training programme as and when required.

Attend, organise and chair (as required) relevant clinical advisory groups and committees and partnership meetings as directed by your ADN, to ensure appropriate representation of the organisation/services.

Spend time in other regions and localities to teach, develop and share specialist knowledge with other colleagues, projects, and teams.

Work alongside the Regional Lead Doctors (and or Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP)) to formulate, plan and implement clinical policies, procedures, and treatment programmes to ensure safety and optimise outcomes for service users.

Be an active support for your peers within the organisation.

To undertake regular performance reviews, identify areas of risk and take appropriate action.

Assist in the development and implementation of clinical standard policies and procedures so that services are effectively delivered, controlled, monitored, and reported.

Ensure that all data requirements in relation to service users are met within defined deadlines.

Qualifications Essential

Registered with the NMC with a current PIN.

Masters level qualification or equivalent training and/ or experience

Significant experience of working in senior clinical position leadership and management: drug and alcohol services, clinical services, Criminal Justice systems or social care. Demonstrable experience of successful formulation and submission of bids to commissioning bodies. Significant experience of working and managing people/teams in the clinical services and substance misuse, social care fields. Significant experience of working with complex needs, dual diagnosis and offenders, and their substance misuse health related issues. Demonstrable experience of working with people from a range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Demonstrable experience and commitment to supporting and working within diversity awareness environments. Experience of managing significant budgets. An in-depth knowledge of clinical interventions for use with a range of service users. Understanding of UK Drug Strategy and Social Policy reforms. Knowledge of recovery/abstinence models of treatment and harm minimization interventions. In depth knowledge of the regulatory framework within which the clinical services and the organisation operate. Awareness of, and ability to work within, clinical legislation in relation to service users. Maintaining knowledge of the developments in CGLs areas of operation. Ability to manage in a facilitative and coaching style. Ability to implement and develop effective monitoring mechanisms. Ability to evaluate professional development and progress.
