Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and self-motivated radiographer to join our dynamic Ultrasound team as a trainee.

This is a training post within the Ultrasound Department, specifically training in obstetrics, gynaecology and general medical ultrasound. The training is full-time (37.5 hours each week) and is both academic and practical. There is a need to attend a higher education institute and a need to complete assessments throughout the training. Successful completion of the training will result in a formal qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PGDip).

Because this is a training position, the salary is paid under Annex 21, which means you receive a percentage of the full qualified rate depending on how close you are to completing your training:

Within 12 months of completion -- 75% of the pay band maximum 1-2 years from completion -- 70% of the pay band maximum 2-3 years from completion -- 65% of the pay band maximum More than 3 years from completion -- 60% of the pay band maximum Salary Breakdown

75% rate -- £42,386 per year 70% rate -- £39,560 per year 65% rate -- £36,734 per year 60% rate -- £33,909 per year The successful applicant will be required to complete a supervised preceptorship period before independent work is undertaken.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for training and supporting the department in the following ways:

To ensure images and examination details are stored appropriately. To use ultrasound equipment safely and effectively. Adhere to ultrasound guidance and protocols. Participate in audits and review activities to ensure continued high department and practice standards. Responsible for managing own workload, specifically training and academic workload. Work within trainee scope of practice, remaining within expected levels of competencies and seeking advice / guidance / assistance when required. Undertaking ultrasound examinations and providing high quality reports on scans appropriate to training and the level of training undertaken. Carrying out support duties to support the management and function of the department within a student Sonographer role, including but not limited to joining team meetings, chaperoning and helping patients. Progressing patient care and workflow of the ultrasound team, following relevant scan findings and to act upon these accordingly To attend the relevant training events, programmes and examinations when required for successful completion of the training course. To ensure a high level of communication with both patients and colleagues in order to ensure successful completion of the training course and to achieve a good examination standard.
