About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and forward-thinking Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled clinician to lead, innovate, and shape high-quality physiotherapy practices within our Intermediate Care setting. As a band 7 Clinical Specialist, you will provide expert assessment, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based interventions for patients with complex needs. You will act as a clinical leader within the service, mentoring colleagues and driving quality improvement.

Main duties of the job

Delivering advanced physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients with complex presentations Providing specialist clinical advice to the wider MDT, including consultants, AHPs, nursing staff, and external partners Leading service development initiatives, audits, and quality improvement projects Supporting the education, supervision, and professional development of Band 5/6 physiotherapists, support workers, and students Contributing to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and evidence based practice Working autonomously while collaborating closely with the MDT to ensure seamless, patient centred care

Knowledge Essential

Evidence of leadership expertise and knowledge acquired through CPD and experience Knowledge and experience of using standardised assessments and development of relevant outcome measures Demonstrates knowledge of equipment available and able to assess and fit where applicable Knowledge and understanding of national legislation, guidance and regulatory framework including NSF, NICE, Information Governance, Equality and Diversity, Data Protection, Safe Guarding, Professional and Clinical Guidelines Knowledge of Clinical Governance and implications for service area Knowledge and evidence of participation in clinical audit and evidence gathering methods Evidence of continuous improvement through benchmarking and sharing and utilising best practice Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety in the work environment and implications for service area Awareness and understanding of relevant health and Social Care legislation

Qualifications Essential

Diploma/Degree in relevant profession (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy) Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently between TRFT sites and for patient visits in the Rotherham area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 Post-graduate qualifications relevant to Occupational Therapy/ Physiotherapy-speciality to Masters level or equivalent experience

Desirable

Membership of Professional body Management/leadership qualification or equivalent Completed recognised IT course e.g. ECDL/Elite/MOST

Experience Essential

Recruitment and selection experience Evidence of utilising systems of performance management Experience of management of resources Experience of user/carer participation and engagement in development of services Evidence of development and supervision of staff and students Up to date documented evidence of CPD relevant to rehabilitation Experience of leading a multi-professional team

Experience of leading service developments
