Healthcare Assistant Band 2-3 progressive role

Maternity Support Worker band 3

Are you new to care or do you have caring experience and looking to join or further your experience in the NHS?

We are looking to recruit people into either:

Band 3 HCA post, if you have the Care Certificate and fit the person specification requirements of this role. Band 2 HCA development post which involves a 6 month programme resulting in completion of the Care Certificate, enabling you to then progress to a Band 3. We have a dedicated HCA education team who will support you through an induction programme and, for those who need it, the completion of your Care Certificate.

If you are an enthusiastic and motivated individual and want to join our clinical patient facing teams on the wards or in Outpatients here at Darent Valley Hospital we want to hear from you.

Hours of work in inpatient areas are long days and nights, covering Monday to Sunday and shift times are: 07.00-19.30 and 19.00-07.30.Hours of work in outpatients run between 08.00 - 18.00 with specific times adjusted depending on clinical need.

Unfortunately DGT does not offer sponsorship to roles that are Band 4 and under.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work independently as a member of the nursing team following agreed plans of care pathways.

They will provide support for the Registered Nursing staff in maintaining a stable and safe clinical environment.

Person Specification

Education and Training Essential

Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy) GCSE grade A-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths Care Certificate

Desirable

Evidence of CPD

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Customer Care skills Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Interpersonal Skills IT literate

Desirable

Basic understanding of Anatomy & Physiology Basic understanding of Anatomy & Physiology Able to act on own initiative (in relation to delivering patient/client care)

Experience Essential

Able to act on own initiative (in relation to delivering patient/client care) Experience of working in a caring environment, either in health, social or voluntary services

Experience of staff management
