Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Abingdon Community Hospital is delighted to offer the opportunity for a full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist (OT) within our service. If you are passionate about working in an adult inpatient physical rehabilitation setting, and award winning team, where our goal is to enhance our patient's quality of life and health and facilitate their safe discharge from hospital, then we are the team for you.
We would love to hear from any experienced Occupational Therapists who have the compassion, skills and knowledge to help us assess our patient's and deliver person centred interventions which impact daily activities and functioning and improve health and well being and return to independence.
We're a supportive, well-established, and knowledgeable community hospital multi-disciplinary team. You will receive quality individual, safeguarding and reflective practice supervision.

Main duties of the job
This role would suit someone who is experienced in conducting specific physical and cognitive/functional assessments and delivering interventions to support stroke rehabilitation. The post holder should be able to communicate this effectively within the MDT and family but also externally to key organisations such as social care and specialist services. You will also have responsibility for prescribing equipment and assessing home environments as appropriate. You will also be expected to represent and lead the service at family meetings, and be aware of the protocols and procedures in place to ensure clinical governance and adherence to standards.

Clinical Care Responsibilities may include:
To deliver safe and effective rehabilitative patient care and discharge, working in partnership with colleagues in the stroke multidisciplinary team and within the community and acute sectors, supporting the efficient use of resources across the whole system delegating duties as appropriate. To work independently as part of an interdisciplinary team to prioritise, assess, plan and implement patient specific programmes of stroke care/rehabilitation, analysing patient needs and making judgements about best practice contributing to the continuous assessment of patients and effective interagency liaison and adhere to National Clinical Guidelines within the clinical setting. Work flexibly across localities and occasional weekends to ensure the requirements of the service contract are met. Undertake assessment of patients as an autonomous practitioner using clinical reasoning skills, knowledge of evidence based practice and professional expertise. Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Professional Qualification (degree or equivalent). Professional Registration with HCPC. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) portfolio.
Desirable
Post registration training in Stroke/rehabilitation Member of RCOT Member of specialist interest group e.g SSNAP
Further training Essential
Practice educators course or equivalent.
Desirable
Experience initiating and leading service improvement projects and audit.
Experience Essential
Previous experience as a Band 5 or equivalent in neurological rehabilitation. Experience working within an interdisciplinary team. Experience in supervision of student placements. Experience with routine and complex hospital discharge planning. Good understanding of clinical governance.
Desirable
Experience/training in cognitive assessment and rehabilitation. Experience participating in family meetings/case conferences.
Contractual Essential
Hold current driving licence. Able to work flexibly as post may require weekend working. Understanding of equality and diversity.
