Job summary

Clinical Blood Sciences Hub Manager (CBS)

An opportunity has arisen for a CBS Hub manager in Blood Sciences to lead the service at St Helier and Epsom which currently incorporates Biochemistry, Haematology, Special Haematology and Chemistry, Newborn Screening, Blood Transfusion and Central Pathology Reception.

The post-holder will ensure the delivery of high-quality care and continue to meet all key performance and financial targets. Whilst support will be provided, you will need to have proven experience of managing a large diagnostic pathology department, have knowledge across a range of laboratory procedures, excellent people management skills and a good understanding of financial principles. Continuous professional development (CPD) will be encouraged.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will oversee the day to day management of the CBS service at the Epsom and St Helier sites to ensure that a quality service is provided in all areas of the Blood Science departments, on time and within budget.

The role will require the successful applicant to provide leadership and co-ordination across the sites and disciplines to ensure an efficient and effective quality service provision. This will include ensuring all KPI's (including supplier contractors) , turnaround times and Quality targets are met, effective budget management and senior HR management experience.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training Essential

HCPC Registration BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Scientists, MSc or equivalent experience Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) Post graduate Management qualification or equivalent experience

Desirable

Recognised qualification in laboratory design and or workflow management

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Significant experience in the practice of Laboratory Medicine Ability to carry out staff appraisals Experience in staff recruitment and selection Experience with quality management systems Proven experience of leadership and management Significant experience in problem solving Use of pathology computer systems Financial management and procurement Experience of developing and managing pathology logistic services

Desirable

Experience of working and managing different specialist areas of clinical blood sciences Experience of data capture and reporting with laboratory information systems
