An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Podiatrist to join the team.

We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual working at Band 5 to join our team.

You will be required to provide assessment, treatment and interventions for our high risk caseload within Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, andwill work with a range of clinics, hospital and health centres and homes across Torbay and South Devon.

Main duties of the job

As a Podiatrist you will be responsible for the management and treatment of a caseload of patients across a variety of locations within Torbay and South Devon area, providing a comprehensive assessment of podiatric need, relevant health education, planned podiatric care packages and referral to other health care professionals as required.

You will be:

committed to and undertake CPD, evidenced based practice and clinical rotation providing high standards of treatment and professionalism and to continue to develop a multi-disciplinary approach to patient car Due to the role requirements, you must have the ability to travel around the Torbay and South Devon locality to undertake home visits.

You will have clinical responsibility for delivering high quality care to a caseload across the Torbay and South Devon area and will be working closely with other community healthcare workers and provider agencies within a variety of care settings including:

community clinics, domiciliary work, care homes and contribute to the development of the podiatry team

Working over 10 different locations, the podiatry department consists of 45 clinical comprising of Head of Service, Advanced Practitioner, Team Leads, Specialist podiatrists, podiatrists, assistant practitioners and clinical support staff . We also have 8 administrative staff.

Job description Job responsibilities

To ensure effective communication with patients, relatives and carers concerning assessment outcomes, treatment options and prognosis where there may be barriers to understanding due to learning difficulties, illness and high anxiety

Delegate effectively and provide care plans for support staff such as clinical support workers assistant practitioners and students to follow

To maintain Registration with Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and degree/diploma in Podiatry and local analgesia administration certificate

To follow departmental Policies, Procedures and Guidelines but have the discretion to make own clinical diagnosis and decisions within professional boundaries

To attend all mandatory training sessions as required by the Trust

Maintain accurate clinical records of all patient consultations and related work carried out at each clinical session in accordance with Professional Standards and Trust policy

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training Essential

Registered Podiatrist with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Degree/ Diploma in Podiatric Medicine Certificate of local anaesthesia

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to assess, formulate and implement treatment plans Ability to provide health education Ability to explain departmental policies, systems and procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Reliable, motivated and innovative Knowledge of research skills Knowledge of using Doppler and undertaking neurological tests

Desirable

Knowledge of departmental and Trust policies, procedures and guidelines Ability to cope with a varied workload Good understanding of health and safety measures Understanding of clinical governance Presentation skills

Specific Experience Essential

Practical experience of wound care, biomechanics and nail surgery Competent to give injections of local anaesthetics Competent to perform neurological and vascular assessments of the foot including use of specialist equipment, e.g. doppler
