About this role

Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a proactive and enthusiastic PBS practitioner to be part of our Intensive Positive Behavioural Support (iPBS) team for children with learning disabilities and/or a diagnosis of autism presenting with complex and severe behaviours of concern. You will be part of a warm and welcoming team comprising psychology, speech and language, occupational therapy and child development advisors who work intensively to provide holistic and person centred support for children and young people and their families and systems of support. You will be skilled and knowledgeable in the key principles of PBS and keen to reduce restrictive practices and promote quality of life.

This post is a fixed term/secondment for 9 months until 31st March 2027 due to funding. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

1. Understanding behaviours that challenge as a communication of unmet need and supporting family and staff networks to work within an attachment informed Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) framework and create clear and consistently implemented PBS plans

2. Using an intensive approach to work with young people to build fundamental skills in communicating and interacting with the world

3. Promoting Quality of Life and supporting young people to be an active part of their local community

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Professional Registered qualification i.e. RMN, RNLD, Psychology Practitioner, OT degree / diploma or Social Worker or educated to Masters Degree or equivalent level of demonstrable knowledge and experience Evidence of Continuing Professional Development PBS qualification - BTEC level 4 or above

Desirable

PBS qualification at level 5 - Professional Certificate Teaching qualification

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a professional capacity within Learning Disability Services Experience of working with children/ young people who have additional needs and their families Experience of working within a specialist community learning disability service Experience of working with people with a learning disability and behaviours that challenge

Desirable

Evidence of further learning in change management/ leading projects to promote service improvement Experience of leading on a service change project Experience of providing mentorship to learners on the BTEC PBS course
