QualificationsGENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the following experience(s): Knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings Using specifications and test instruments Making computations, and keeping records Using computer and automation systems SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 24 months of the following experience(s): Applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facilities, or service operations Designing projects or planning assignments Using well-established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhaul, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, etc.
Major DutiesAs a SURFACE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST, GS-1601-9, you will: Analyzes and resolves a variety of conventional maintenance management problems to improve existing maintenance operations, production, and practices that impact the overall maintenance program. Establishes methods and procedures to ensure maintenance tasks performed meet or exceed established policies and regulations Establishes and monitors the shop safety and health program Monitors the organization's use of automation to properly account for manpower utilization and materials management Perform other Duties as AssignedRequirementsAreas of Consideration: CAT 3: All current members of the New Jersey Army National Guard Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trial period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency.
