About this role

Job summary

We are looking for a Practice nurse to hold some lead nurse duties. These will include IPC and immunisations lead.The position is part-time, 25 hours per week. We are open to discussion around working days and hours alongside a competitive salary.

Main duties of the job

The Practice Nurse will be responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services, working as part of the practices multidisciplinary team who provide care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. You will be supported by our clinical and management team but must be able to work independently.

Clinical Knowledge and Skills Essential

Wound care including complex dressings/removal of sutures and staples Compression bandaging ECGs Venepuncture New patient medicals Chaperone procedure Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly Travel medicine Hypertension CHD Immunisations (routine, childhood and travel) Womens health (Cervical cytology, contraception etc.) Understands the importance of evidence-based practice Broad knowledge of clinical governance Ability to record accurate clinical notes Ability to work within own scope of practice and to understand when to refer to GPs Knowledge of health promotion strategies Understands the requirement for PGDs and associated policy

Desirable

Diabetes Asthma Spirometry Knowledge of public health in the local area Awareness of issues within the wider health area

Skills Essential
