About this role

Job summary Are you interested in working in a daycase setting delivering anti-cancer treatments? Are you an enthusiastic and experienced registered nurse with at least 18 months of post-registration experience looking for a new challenge?

The Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) day case unit (J80) at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is a regional centre delivering anti-cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy to oncology and haematology patients.

We are very keen to hear from registered nurses who want to work with this very close and supportive team who strive to give the best possible care they can to their patients.

Main duties of the job This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical and leadership skills within a supportive environment that values teamwork, professional development, and compassionate care. We provide comprehensive induction and mentorship. As a Band 5 staff nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to day case patients requiring SACT as part of their treatment pathway.

Job Summary This is a very exciting time for the service at Leeds and a great opportunity to join the team. The experience and clinical skills that you will get from working in the SACT day-case unit are vast, ranging from having the clinical skills required to deliver chemotherapy/immunotherapy treatments safely to caring for the patient who may become acutely unwell as a side effect of their treatment to providing the emotional support our patients need at what can be a very difficult time for them.

Commitment to own development and the development of junior staff What you will bring to the role The successful candidate will be working as part of a team of highly skilled nurses. You will be responsible for the administration of SACT via a variety of routes, including peripheral and via a CVAD, and if not already SACT competent, will complete the UKONS SACT Digital Passport.

J80 is a fast-paced and busy daycase unit delivering Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT) 7 days per week, treating approximately 80 patients per day.

The unit is open 07:30am – 19:30pm, Monday – Friday.

07:30am – 18:30pm on Saturdays and 07:30am – 16:00pm on Sundays.

You will act as a role model, demonstrating compassionate, patient-centred care. You will participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and staff education. You will work collaboratively across the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and patient-focused care.

Effective communication will be demonstrated at all times, liaising closely with other health professionals and departments, ensuring patients and relatives are kept informed.
