About this role

Job summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Band 6 Trauma Therapy Practitioner to join our Local Primary Mental Health Support Service in Powys. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary team delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based care to adults living with the impact of trauma and PTSD.

At the heart of this role is a commitment to dignity, recovery and collaboration. You will work alongside nurses, counsellors, psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers to shape and deliver the Traumatic Stress Pathway in line with Traumatic Stress Wales standards. Your work will empower people to understand their experiences, regain control and move towards meaningful recovery.

You will hold a varied clinical caseload, providing high-quality assessment, formulation and trauma-focused interventions, including EMDR and other NICE-recommended therapies. The role also offers space to contribute beyond direct clinical work - supporting service development, consultation, training and the wider embedding of the Trauma-Informed Wales Framework.

Main duties of the job

As a Trauma Therapy Practitioner, you will assess, formulate and deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychological therapies for adults experiencing the effects of trauma, including PTSD and Complex PTSD. You will hold a defined clinical caseload, providing trauma-focused interventions such as EMDR and other NICE-recommended approaches, delivered flexibly through face-to-face and digital appointments.

You will contribute to trauma-informed Part 1 Mental Health Assessments, developing collaborative, person-centred formulations and treatment plans informed by a psychological understanding of trauma. Accurate use of outcome measures, clinical documentation and electronic records will be central to your practice.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will offer consultation, advice and guidance to colleagues, and where appropriate support families and carers. You will play an active role in implementing and embedding the Traumatic Stress Pathway and the Trauma-Informed Wales Framework across services.
