Main duties of the job Job Role
You will support the dentist and wider clinical team to provide excellent patient care while ensuring the smooth running of daily surgeries.
Main DutiesAssisting the dentist during a range of treatments and procedures
Preparing and sterilising instruments in line with infection control standards
Welcoming and caring for patients in a professional manner
Maintaining accurate clinical records
Supporting reception duties when required
Ensuring surgeries are clean, organised, and fully stocked
Following all CQC, HTM 01-05, and health & safety procedures

Main Purpose of the Job
Provide clinical assistance to practice clinicians, work with little to no supervision and carry out duties to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:
prepare and maintain the clinical environment, including the equipment carry out infection prevention and control procedures to prevent physical, chemical and microbiological contamination in the surgery or laboratory record dental charting and oral tissue assessment carried out by other registrants prepare, mix and handle dental biomaterials provide chairside support to the operator during treatment keep full, accurate and contemporaneous patient records prepare equipment, materials and patients for dental radiography process dental radiographs monitor, support and reassure patients give appropriate patient advice support the patient and their colleagues if there is a medical emergency Assist on reception when required
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
For Qualified Dental Nurse: GDC registered (or eligible to register) For Trainee Dental Nurse: Enrolled on a dental nurse course
Knowledge Essential
Previous dental nursing experience Good communication and teamwork skills Enthusiastic and willing to learn Excellent people skills Reliable, punctual, and professional (Enrolled on a dental nurse course)
Desirable
Confident Learning new IT skills
