An opportunity has arisen for a Practice Nurse to cover Maternity Leave who wants to make a difference in our patient's lives. The successful candidate will join a great team of existing Nurses & AHPs in our friendly practice.
Please note this is a fixed term role until 31 December 2026.

Main duties of the job
The purpose of the Practice Nurse is to deliver safe, high quality primary care nursing services to the practice population. Working within the NMC Code of Conduct and professional boundaries, the post holder will deliver primary health care interventions and care. The post holder will support service development, the safe delivery of policy and procedures, and demonstrate effective professional nurse standards, advocacy and performance.

About the Practice/Department/Team
New Queen Street and Stanground Surgeries are located in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. This is a modern, forward thinking and cohesive eight Partner GP practice, offering compassionate personalised care and patient services to a list size of c.19000.

Job Responsibilities/Principal Duties to include but are not limited to:
Responsible for providing and delivering primary health care interventions and care effectively and efficiently Working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary general practice team and other healthcare professionals to promote integrated pathways of care to meet patient needs. Effective communication with patients, carers and all members of the MDT Effective prioritisation and completion of daily work in line with clinical / patient need and practice priorities Maintenance of accurate and legible patient records in line with professional and organisational requirements this includes contemporary paper records and electronic patient record system Actively participates and contributes to nurse team meetings Initiates health promotion activities with individuals, patients and carers Participates in clinical audit and the implementation of changes to ways of working and/or clinical practice as a result of findings, recommendations and action plans Proactive in improving and influencing the patient care pathway/ journey
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse NMC 1st level registration Mentorship course or equivalent Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable
Primary Care Nursing Qualification Degree in Healthcare/Nursing Accredited Diploma level training in chronic disease management Clinical supervision training and experience
Experience Essential
Recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a primary care setting Involvement in implementing and using protocols and clinical guidelines Experience of managing/dealing with the public/patients Experience of audit and/or research Experience of using clinical systems and Microsoft office
Desirable
Experience of using clinical systems and Microsoft office Participation in quality initiatives such as clinical benchmarking Experience of SystmOne
