Job summary
As our Pharmacy Technician, you'll play an essential role in ensuring safe, effective, and efficient medicines management across the practice.
Working closely with our GPs, clinical pharmacists, nursing team, and administrative staff, you will support both patients and colleagues by optimising medication processes and contributing to high quality clinical care.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
Support and improve repeat prescribing systems
Conduct medication reviews within scope of practice
Monitor and action prescription queries
Support Medicines Reconciliation for new patients and after hospital discharge
Provide guidance to patients on safe medication use
Take responsibility for audits, QOF, GMICB BeCCor Initiative, safety alert monitoring and other prescribing initiatives
Support the clinical team in delivering high quality outcomes
Liaise with community pharmacies and other healthcare providers
Maintain accurate and compliant medicines-related documentation
Contribute to practice policies, safety procedures, and continuous improvement work

Work with community pharmacies, PCN pharmacy teams, and external providers to ensure seamless patient care.
Maintain accurate clinical coding and documentation in line with practice policies.

Adhere to all governance requirements including data protection, confidentiality, and medicines legislation.
Uphold safe systems for storage, handling, and disposal of medicines.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Experienced in pharmacy settings (primary care, community, or hospital) Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Experienced in pharmacy settings (primary care, community, or hospital) Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team A great communicator with a positive, patient focused approach IT confident and comfortable using clinical systems (training provided)
Desirable
Previous experience in general practice Knowledge of EMIS or similar clinical software Additional training in primary care pharmacy frameworks Interest in quality improvement or service development
Experience Essential
Experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or primary care. Experience in medicines management processes such as repeat prescribing, medicines reconciliation, or prescription queries. Experience communicating with patients and healthcare professionals Understanding of medicines safety, governance, and regulatory duties
Desirable
Previous experience working in a GP practice or primary care network PCN Experience supporting QOF, IIF or prescribing-related audits Experience conducting patien tfacing medication discussions within scope of practice
