Main duties of the job At Avery Healthcare, Kitchen Assistants are key players in the delivery of an excellent catering service within Braintree Mews Care Home. The role focuses on food preparation, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and ensuring high standards of hygiene are adhered to. Responsibilities include safe food handling, teamwork, managing stock, and displaying a caring attitude towards residents. Candidates are expected to hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and demonstrate high personal hygiene standards. Prior knowledge of Health and Safety procedures, including Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, and COSHH assessments, are also necessary.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as Kitchen Assistant is tosupport the catering function in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals, ensuring a high quality and comprehensive service is delivered to residents.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

Understanding the principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparations undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene. Contributingfully to team working, responding positively tocolleagues,and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly. Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods. Actingaccordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.

Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate anddemonstrateshigh standardsof personal hygiene. Qualifications Essential
