Job summary

Priory Hospital Norwich is looking to recruit a Ward Manager to join the team. This is a full time 37.5 hours role.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients

Manages the ward and resources effectively, taking steps to ensure that appropriate staffing levels and skill mix of nursing experience and skills is in place including effective rota management, annual leave and training arrangements. Has full oversight of the nursing staff rota and is the authorised individual to ensure rota management and erostering standards are maintained and are effective. Ensures that all members of the nursing team receive clinical supervision, appraisal, CPD requirements and complete mandatory training. Addresses shortfalls in development and ensures that training and performance issues are addressed.

Job description Job responsibilities

Set in the Norfolk countryside a mile outside the town of Attleborough, Norfolk, Priory Hospital Norwich is a 24/7, mental health inpatient provision, which provides care for males and females, split across wards which care for differing levels of acuity. We accept referrals from across the UK, and support the NHS with patient flow, by providing a pathway of care, suited to individual needs, including medium to high risk patients.

Priorys acute and PICU services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas. Norwich also provides a 24/7, rapid response drug and alcohol service including detox.

Person Specification

Requirements Essential

The ideal candidate will be currently registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council as a Registered Mental Health Nurse or with the Health and Care Professions Council, with at least two years experience in a supervisory capacity within a relevant care setting. Appropriate registration or relevant ward experience is essential, alongside a willingness to complete further clinical, managerial, and leadership training and development. The candidate should be a trained and current Assessor/Supervisor, with strong computer literacy skills. They will have experience as a registered practitioner in clinical settings relevant to the post, with evidence of continuing professional development. Additionally, the candidate must have prior experience supervising nursing or care staff.

Desirable

Experience in clinical audit and/or service improvement based on evidence is desirable, as is the ability to work in environments requiring the management of multiple priorities.
