About this role

Job summary

Are you are looking for a great place to work, a supportive team ethos and the opportunity to work in a stunning rural environment. Our Practice is based in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, offering outstanding opportunities for walking, running, cycling and a host of other outdoor activities. Our main surgery is beside the Usk River in the pleasant market town of Brecon. We enjoy providing care to a rural and agricultural population within the scenic mountains of the Brecon Beacons. We are centrally located, with excellent main road access, which means it is just a one-hour drive to Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and Hereford.

We are seeking a Salaried GP to join our team for up to eight sessions per week. We are looking for an enthusiastic GP who would enjoy the variety of work offered within the practice and the community. There is opportunity if desired to develop special interests through our supplementary services.

Main duties of the job

We operate a system of total triage. A telephone list of calls to triage with the facility for face-to-face appointments provide the flexibility for you to manage your working day as you consider necessary. There are no home visits at the end of clinics: our home visits are undertaken by the GP working within our Enhanced Community Care Teams each day. The Salaried GP would have the option to participate in the home-visit day, which provides an excellent opportunity to work more closely with the various members of our multi-disciplinary team, and enjoy the excitement and challenges of remote and rural medicine in a beautiful landscape. Similarly, the salaried GP would have the option to participate in the clinical care of patients in our local community hospital.

About us

We are a dispensing practice in the market towns of Brecon and Sennybridge. We deliver GMS and enhanced services to approximately 15,500 patients.

We believe in developing our own practice team as well as providing education and training to registrars and medical students throughout the year, working closely with Cardiff and Swansea Universities. To this end, additional to the salary we also offer a £500 study budget to support you in any educational development that you wish to undertake.

Our teamwork-based approach enables us to provide the highest quality of care, and an enjoyable, supportive working environment. Partners and Salaried GPs meet regularly to review, discuss and learn from the expertise and experience of others for complex clinical decisions.

Our clinical team is supported by a Practice Nurse Team and a Physicians Assistant. We also have direct access for medicines management support through a community interest company Red Kite Solutions. We are a training practice with three GP trainers and enjoy the regular presence of registrars, Foundation Doctors and medical students from Swansea and Cardiff.

We are committed to workflow optimisation and the reduction of GP administration workload.

Competitive Salary £12,814 per session per annum, (subject to annual pay review). £500 study budget and seven weeks annual leave per annum.

This could be the right opportunity for you if you are looking to join a partnership in the future.
