Job summary

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Support Worker to join the Community Living Team. This role supports adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities within a 24hour Community Living service.

Main duties of the job

This role supports adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities within a 24hour Community Living service. Support is delivered through outreach and in reach to individuals living in their own homes, extracare housing. Staff use the Active Support Model focusing on doing things with people, not for them, promoting choice, independence, and participation at every opportunity to help service users participate in daily living tasks such as personal care medication management, cooking, cleaning, shopping, managing finances, and accessing the community.

Band 3 staff are required to work independently and alongside colleagues under the guidance of senior staff to provide highquality physical and emotional care, and they act as co-key workers in line with service values and quality standards.

The role also involves lone working, particularly during outreach visits or when supporting individuals in their own homes, requiring staff to work safely, independently, and confidently while following organisational procedures. Additional duties may be assigned by managers. A driving licence is required, and staff must be willing to drive service vehicles.
